NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of "Line" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Downstage Theatre of the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the SFA campus.
Playwright Israel Horovitz invites us to amusingly examine five individuals who compete for placement in line, said director Sable Stubblefield, Lufkin senior. "The cast of diabolical characters lie, cheat, seduce and even punch their way to number one, serving as a reminder of the extreme, crazy and often unnecessary things we do to get ahead in life . . . if only for a moment," she continued.
The play is recommended for mature audiences.
Cast members are Garret Cross, Victoria senior; Tony Douglas, Frisco junior; Alicia Earls, Bay City senior; Keidrick Goss, Ennis freshman; and Adam McCoy, Daingerfield senior. Arrie Tucker, Nacogdoches freshman, serves as stage manager.
Previously at SFA, Stubblefield directed “Summer at the Lake” and served as the assistant director of “The Death of Bessie Smith.” She has also performed in the Mainstage productions of “Anton in Show Business,” “As You Like It” and “Androcles and the Lion.” A theatre education major, Stubblefield is currently student teaching in Lufkin.
The Downstage Theatre is located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building, 2222 Alumni Dr.
