SFA to present guest harpsichordist

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine
Arts and School of Music will present Christina Edelen in a guest
harpsichord recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in Cole Concert Hall
located in SFA's Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building. The recital is free
and open to the public.

"Christina created a lot of excitement the last time she came to SFA,"
said Dr. Andrew Parr, SFA professor of music. "Many people have requested
that she return to demonstrate her mastery of the instrument."

Edelen's program will include works by G.F. Handel, W.A. Mozart and Francois
Couperin.

Edelen's performance and teaching career has spanned over two decades in the
United States and Europe. After receiving a Performer's Certificate from
the Indiana University Early Music Institute, she continued her studies at
the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

A finalist at the Bodky International Competition, she has appeared at the
Early Music Festivals of Bloomington, Ind., Boston and Berkeley, Calif. She
has also performed with the Houston Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the
San Antonio Symphony, Pro Musica of Columbus, the Santa Fe Chamber Music
Festival, the Cactus Pear Music Festival and De Camera of Houston.

She has taught historical keyboards at Baylor University and the University
of Houston and is sought after as a recitalist and teacher of harpsichord
and clavichord.

Edelen is currently working and performing in Amsterdam with her husband,
cellist Fred Edelen, who is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
They have performed on modern and historical instruments as Duo Edelen since
1983.
