NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will offer a ceramics workshop for children 6 through 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the SFA Art Building Room 112 as part of the Creative Art Thursday program.
Marsha Blount, SFA instructor of art, and SFA art education students will be helping the participants make ceramic bowls that will be used in conjunction with Bowls of Hope, the annual charity drive benefiting H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat).
The bowls will be given away at the Bowls of Hope Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Fredonia Hotel. Each person who purchases a $10 ticket will receive a ceramic bowl with HOPE inscribed on the side, handmade by children participating in the charity project, along with a dinner of beans and ham, donated by Fredonia Hotel. The money raised will then be donated to H.O.P.E.
Other groups making the bowls include the SFA Charter School, McMichael Middle School, Christ Episcopal School and SFA art education students.
The registration fee is $5 and includes art supplies and snacks.
Parents can register their children for the workshop at 3:30 on the day of
the session. Parents are welcome to attend the session, or they may leave
after completing the necessary paperwork.
