NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The East Texas Baroque, an ensemble comprised of four Stephen F. Austin State University music faculty members, will present "Baroque Potpourri," a concert of 18th century music from around the world, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Flutist Christina Guenther, violinist Jennifer Dalmas, cellist Evgeni Raychev and harpsichordist Ron Petti will perform in different groupings as they present the concert's program.

Petti will be featured on J.S. Bach's Italian concerto for solo harpsichord, and Raychev will join him for Giuseppe Valentini's "Sonata for Cello and Harpsichord."

Dalmas, Raychev and Petti will perform Giuseppe Tartini's "Sonata in E minor," and Guenther, Raychev and Petti will present Jean-Marie Leclair's "Sonata in E minor, Op. 9 No. 2."

The entire ensemble will perform G.P. Telemann's "Trio Sonata in F Major" and Bach's "Trio Sonata in G Major."

All four of the musicians earned their doctoral degrees from Florida State University where they studied period instrument performance practice in addition to their respective modern instruments.

Guenther explained that while the harpsichord is the only instrument that is a period instrument (the flute, violin and cello played are all modern instruments), the group strives to provide informed performances with regard to Baroque performance practice.

The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Cole Concert Hall is located at 2210 Alumni Dr.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. For tickets or more information, please visit www.sfasu.edu/finearts or call (936) 468-5820 or (888) 240-ARTS.
